this piece is mixed media, earthenware, prisma color pencils, all on a wooden base. It is quite large in comparison to most of the work I am doing these days.

this is a medium sized free standing sculpture. It is the first piece I began when I arrived in San Antonio, Texas. There are huge cacti in the back yard that had giant yellow blossoms adorning their crowns (of course now that it’s winter they are no more). They seemed to be welcoming me to a new city where everyone was a stranger and every street unfamiliar.

there really is no front or back to this piece. I like the idea that if you are tired of looking at one perspective of a piece you are able to turn it 75 degrees and get a totally new interesting sculpture.

This is a piece that was a result from a Saturday afternoon excursion to the zoo. From a series of interesting people and animals I saw that day I came up with this little guy. It’s kind of a game for me–I construct pieces in my head. I know I have a potential piece when I’ve made myself laugh.

back of sculpture. I think it is absolutely adorable when I see kids running around with little animal book bags.

this piece is constructed from earthenware, wood, graphite, a bow tie, wire and paper mache. He hangs on the wall and is fairly large.

this is one of my favorite parts of this little guy. I am using one of my recently purchased glazes (from coyote glazes if you are interested I highly recommend their product)–it is a metallic bronze that adds weight to a piece. He’s got a heavy hand–like a ball in chain–his hands are eager to be useful

I feel like Dr. Frankenstein
