This is one of the first pieces I made after arrival to San Antonio from North Carolina. It’s a giant tear with more tears with more tears. He’s wearing a cowboy hat and a huge belt buckle with ‘Texas’ engraved upon it. All while being poised on top of the Alamo. Surrounded by cacti, a boot, a bleached bull skull, and Davy Crockett’s hat. This cry baby is wearing snails for shoes and he holds an empty beer bottle. I really am enjoying Texas. I think moving for anybody can be tricky. Especially when you are leaving behind a job that you love along with your friends and family. There’s such an element of excitement too. I’ve come to the conclusion it takes at least a year to adjust to a new city. This sculpture epitomizes how I felt after arrival here…it was just something I had to go through.
