Some of these pieces are waiting for a home….I am tempted to hang on to them as a memento of my existence here in San Antonio.
This guy lives in the garden for now. He is quite large, measuring around three feet. He was built in two sections and fastened together after the final firing. he is mixed media, I did use nichrome wire and acrylic paint as well as mosaic materials on the base.
here is a detail of the piece. I love working on this scale and would like to begin working on some even larger pieces.
This piece was made using a slab and coil method of hand building. The imagery was create using a underglaze transfer technique. It was fired to a high temperature and then gold luster was added and fired low—I love this piece, he’s hanging in my kitchen. Yes that is a raccoon eating a sandwich.
Here is the image in its entirety. Davy Crockett in front of the Alamo. To me he is questioning his current geographical location and really wondering is he should have been so anxious to get out of D.C. But hey that’s just my interpretation.
